In 1991 the late Mrs. Elsie Wise started the West Powelton Steppers and Drum Squad. It started when four girls from the neighbor presented the idea, Mrs. Wise, knowing that kids in the area needed a safe place and a creative outlet she. She began to instill a sense of pride and community within the youth she worked with that overlapped into their adult lives.

The work she began so many years ago continues today under the direction of her grandson Antione Mapp, her vision is now a legacy that continues to grow keeping those same values discipline, teamwork, and self-respect.
Currently in our 31st season we have been blessed with the opportunity to perform all over the country making history as we go. We were the first Drumline to perform at Battle of the Bands and one of the first to perform at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. We have won local, state, and national championships and currently serve as the official drumline for the Philadelphia 76ers performing at half-time since 2013.
The team has earned the nickname “The Hardest Working Drumline” because every week the team practices over 12 hours a week and performs at over 15 events rather it is a parade or celebrating a special event with one of our fans we bring a beat with a strong flavor that cannot be illustrated, with radical foot work and bold body movements unmatched by anyone, all of that combined with application to every detail is evidence of the passion that these young men and women have.
We will continue to offer a safe place for the youth and high energy entertainment for those in the community, because the vision that Mrs. Elsie had so many years ago has became a legacy that will continue to carry out the same core values.
